No, Nick has not been abducted by aliens…

Nick Sanders was on the run home – riding to Toronto from Deadhorse after fifty thousand miles on the Super Tenere – when his Spot tracker stopped sending his position outside Fargo, North Dakota. After tracking him daily during his 46-day Pan-Am there-and-back record, it seemed like he’d dropped off the face of the earth. […]

Casey Stoner – another day at the office

Not likely to be doing anything like this any time soon on the Super Tenere – er, or, maybe ever… Casey Stoner and Honda are at the top of their game, and Valentino and Nicky’s struggles with the Ducati only emphasize how well Casey was riding it last year. This pic is from the tests […]

In Appreciation of Workers at Yamaha Japan

Over at the yamahasupertenere.com forum, we’ve been working on a project that we hope will show our appreciation to the workers in the Yamaha factory in Iwata, Japan. These guys and girls did a fantastic job of building our bikes in the aftermath of the tsunami, and getting them to us only 2 months later […]

Touratech Skid Plate Now Available

Touratech are a little late to the party with this one, but better late than never. Their offering has a few features the others don’t, and the price seems quite reasonable (for Touratech). SW-Motech remains the cheapest of the crop at $229, but it seems to be the mounting system and coverage it lacking a […]

It's Here!

It’s Here!

The first 40 miles is done, and I’m just heading back to the store for an oil change. First impressions; Engine makes effortless power and wants to haul ass in Sport Mode TCS1 = no fun. On dirt when the wheel starts to spin it kills power to the rear wheel and you lose forward […]

Picked up my Hepco & Becker parts today

I ordered a couple of things from Capital Cycles, and rode over to collect them this morning. My bike is here next Tuesday! It was time to make a decision on this stuff. After much research, I decided on Hepco & Becker skidplate and crash bars.  I’ll have a full write-up and fitting pictures next […]

The Ted Simon Foundation launched

Ted Simon has been one of my inspirations since reading his book, Jupiter’s Travels, in 1982. Now, soon after his 80th birthday, he’s still inspiring people with the launch of the Ted Simon Foundation. The Foundation is non-profit organization promoting world understanding through personal adventure travel. From the website: “The Foundation was created by a […]

Hidden easter-egg on the Yamaha USA site

This is something I’d never seen before. As far as I can tell it’s not linked from the main Super Tenere page – but the URL was included in the dealer notice that went out today. Nice work, wonder why they hid it?

Nick Sanders completes 50,000 mile ride on his Super Tenere

Nick just completed his monumental ride, three times the length of the Americas in less than four months. This includes a record time for Prudhoe Bay to Ushuaia and back again. He finished a tad under 50 days for the 30,000 mile trip, riding 20-hour days while battling border bureaucracy, crazy traffic, rough roads and […]

Super Tenere delivery notice

The Super Ténéré is here!

Well not quite – they are not in our grubby little hands yet, but there are reports of them sitting in warehouses on the west coast and Chicago, awaiting shipment to dealers. They should ship any day now, and we’ll have them next week. Will update as news comes through… UPDATE – it’s official!
