Touratech Skid Plate Now Available

Touratech are a little late to the party with this one, but better late than never. Their offering has a few features the others don’t, and the price seems quite reasonable (for Touratech). SW-Motech remains the cheapest of the crop at $229, but it seems to be the mounting system and coverage it lacking a little compared to the others (mind you, I’ve yet to see one in real life!). The Touratech version is in the same ballpark price-wise as the Altrider and Hepco & Becker (with the H&B being the most expensive – full review to come!).

This skid plate has one notable difference from the others – the base plate of the engine guard is made of 3 mm thick aluminum sheet, reinforced by 2 mm stainless steel sheet. I’m guessing that the stainless steel provides puncture protection that aluminum alone does not?

Please let me know if you buy one of these – need more info!
